When my late husband, Michael Sierra, started this company in 1996, he believed this loyalty and obligation would allow us to be trusted by our customers and partners, distinguishing us in this competitive industry and guiding Ventura’s success. It is a distinction that I now must uphold to earn your trust. Our partners are valuable to the organization and me, and as we all look ahead, post-pandemic, we must trust Michael’s beliefs and work hard because we can accomplish great things together.”

Our Story

Founded in 1996 by the late retired Army Colonel Michael J. Sierra, Ventura was built on the principles of integrity, loyalty, and excellence. Over the years, we have become a trusted partner for federal agencies, offering a wide range of IT services that address the unique challenges of government operations. Our team of industry veterans and IT professionals brings extensive knowledge and expertise to every project, ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality solutions.

About Our Founder

Michael J. Sierra was born in San Antonio, Texas, in the summer of 1941. As the eldest of six children, he grew up in central Texas and joined the Texas National Guard. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959. In 1965, Mike deployed with the 101st Airborne to Vietnam as a Platoon Leader with the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. He returned to Vietnam in 1967 with the 1st Cavalry Division as a Company Commander with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment. Mike earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Arizona.
 
Mike served the nation with distinction until his retirement as a Colonel in 1989, earning numerous accolades, including the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with V device and two oak leaf clusters, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Good Conduct Medal, the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
 
Mike was also active in his community, contributing to multiple causes.
